U-probe

The U-probes are multi-use, multi-site linear electrodes, which are expertly handcrafted and made to order with many finished options available. The tip of the probe is shaped like an injection needle at an angle of 15-30 degrees. These probes are robust, which is due in part to their stainless steel construction. They are most often used for acute recordings in medium to large animals. The most commonly used steel tube diameter is 185µm, customizable between 185-360 microns. The platinum/iridium electrode recording sites are available in 15, 20, 25 and 40µm diameter options. Electrode sites are numbered from connector to tip.

These electrodes are available in single, stereotrode and tetrode configurations, each with a choice of 8, 16, 24, 32 or 64 channels. Inter-electrode spacing: 50μm, 75μm, 100μm, 150μm, or 200μm along length of probe; 50μm within stereotrode or tetrode group.

Optional fluid delivery channels for precise drug delivery or fiber optic lines for optogenetic stimulation intermixed within the recording sites are available. These probes along with V-Probes, S-Probes, K-probes and standard Thumbtack Probes with polyimide-epoxy composite shaft are exclusively sold worldwide (excluding Hungary) by Plexon Inc.
